Welcome to the REAL (Responsible, Ethical, Authentic Lifestyle) bitless group for people who believe it is crucial for horses to be trained and ridden with their head IFV (in front of the vertical). Bitless and REAL focusses on education and is a forum for discussion based on ethical and humane horsemanship.
To be a member of the group you need to believe that the principles of LIMA (Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive) methods of training, riding, and use of tack, are crucial for good horse/ human relationships and essential for horse welfare. Humane ethical horsemanship is key to membership of REAL bitless, following the scientific evidence provided by ISES, (International Society for Equitation Science) and others concerning appropriate practices about riding. These include not riding horses until they are skeletally mature, and authentically ensuring horses are provided with care and living arrangements, which meet the 5 freedoms.
